Tennis courts / Теннисные корты

tennisThose who like playing tennis being in vacation will be pleased by the big choice of tennis courts in Salento. There are really a lot of them (indoor and outdoor, inside of resorts, sports complexes and independent) in all the areas of Salento / Apulia, where one can also learn to play tennis with a trainer. Here I will write about the one I attend, as it is close to where I live, but if it is far from where you stay in Salento, you can surely find one closer to you. Continue reading

Salento beaches / Пляжи Саленто

Here are several videos (some of them are amateur, made by people who spent vacation in Salento) of different beaches in Salento, from Ionian to Adriatic coast, from sandy to rocky beaches. I guess this can be another proof of the natural beauty of the coast line of the Salento peninsula and another reason for you to come and to spend your vacation here 🙂

If you have been to Salento and made video you would like to share about the seaside of Salento, you are welcome to send me and I will be glad to publish it here…

From Salento With Love…

Snow-white Castro / Белоснежный Кастро

castrocittaOne of the most captivating towns of Salento, Castro gives you the impression of a snow-white town (especially looking up from the sea). It consists of two parts, upper part (where the historic centre is) and Castro Marina (down near the sea). Historically it was one of the first cities in Salento to be elevated to the rank of county, it was also a bishopric seat till 1818 thanks to Leone II. Continue reading

Masseria-Restaurant Le Stanzie, heritage of Salento / Массерия-ресторан Le Stanzie, наследие Саленто

masseria Le Stanzie

masseria Le Stanzie

A symbol of the culture and civilization of Salento, Le Stanzie is one of the most representative farm structures (masserie) of sixteenth century in Salento. Placed among rolling hills that surround the landscape of Supersano, this old farmhouse in the past has been a point of reference for having a rest for travelers and pilgrims who during the long and laborious journeys stopped in this place to refresh themselves, to have a hot meal and a well deserved rest before resuming the journey.

millsLe Stanzie takes its name from an ancient Roman Statius, since it is located at the center of important crossroads between the “antique way of oil” that linked the ports of Otranto and Gallipoli and the “way of the pilgrims”, the route used by every Christian who went on pilgrimage from San Michele Gargano to Santa Maria di Leuca.
