10.11.2013, wineries of Italy are open for degustations of young wine / Винодельни Италии открыты для дегустаций молодого вина

The San Martino holiday is a national Italian festival of young wine, a long-expected by enotourists and local wine lovers autumn event, celebrated on 11th of November. People of Apulia celebrate the ritual at home in the company of family and friends, consuming in abundance roasted meat and chestnuts with liters of young wine, which is called ‘vino novello’ in Italian.

Instead on Sunday, 10th of November, from 10:00 till 22:00 there will be the day of wineries open for San Martino holiday, ‘Cantine Aperte a San Martino’, organised by Movimento Turismo del Vino Puglia (Apulian Wine Tourism Movement) http://www.mtvpuglia.it, the wineries in all parts of Italy will be open for all interested in discovering the wines of the new vintage.

Locomotive Jazz Festival

This was the first time I visited this event (and next time I will surely not miss even a day of it), and I couldn’t even imagine what a fantastic unforgettable evening/experience was waiting for me. I thought such concerts could take place only in the capitals of the countries, but it happened here in Salento, in Sagliano Cavour to be exact, organized by Locomotive Jazz Festival with the artistic direction of the saxophonist Raffaele Casarano. The event took place in Piazza Diaz, which was full of people, and the performers have managed not only to make the audience stand up with applause, but also sing and dance till 2 am at night!!!!

Castro in Jazz

Here are some photos and videos from the event Castro in Jazz, magic atmosphere thanks to Jazz&Wine in central square of historic centre of Castro, with amazing panoramas, big full moon, beautiful and divine jazz music concert of Dario Congedo (drums), Luca Alemanno (contrabass and electric bass), Valerio Daniele (acoustic and electric guitar), Giorgio Distante (trumpet) and Francesco Massaro (baritone sax and clarinet).

Now I am looking forward to going to Otranto Jazz Festival this weekend, 26-28 of July, don’t miss it!!!

22nd of June the event ‘Masserie sotto le stelle’ (masserias under the stars) took place in didactic masserias of Salento and Puglia, and we chose Masseria Santa Lucia (Alessano, province of Lecce) from the list of masserias proposed.

In July there are surely much more festivals, sagras, feasts and celebrations than in previous months, with all the towns in Salento participating in the summer partying, and I should admit that the list of the mentioned below festivals is surely not complete here, but includes the most famous and traditional ones. In July every day there is a festival in one or more towns, to make unforgettable not only your days on the seaside, but also your evenings in Salento, when it is less hot. In parentheses near the names of the town is marked the province of the town, Le – Lecce, Br – Brindisi, Ta – Taranto, Ba – Bari. Please see the list of festivals in July below.

Racale, Festival of St. Sebastian, 2013: different kind of markets, flower stands, animals stands, sweets stands with freshmade cupeta, stands with souvenirs, bags, bijouterie, etc, illumination decorations, amusement park with lots of attractions for children and adults, and a live concert of a famous Italian singer Antonio Maggio.

In order to organize better your free time and evenings during your vacation in Salento in June here are festivals, fairs, feasts and shows:

Borgoinfesta, from May 31 to June 2. The eco-cultural festival in Borgagne, created by around three hundred volunteers of Ngracalati. This year the theme of Borgoinfesta is “Mediterranean Roots”, those related to culture, traditions, gastronomy, monumental trees, music, dance, arts, crafts, theater, cooking, solidarity.  From May 31 to June 2, the square of St. Anthony in Borgagne, completely restored, will be the heart of the party. The Church Chiesa Madre and the Clock Tower , reborn with the fresco of St. Anthony, will be the splendid frame for musicians and dancers in the common search for an emotional involvement.

June 2, Antiques Market in Otranto. Exhibition of antique objects, object of hobbies and collecting. Address: Embankment of Heroes (Lungomare degli Eroi), from 8 am to sunset.

The Parade of Horses in Leverano / Парад лошадей в Леверано

The Parade of Horses (Sfilata dei Cavalli) will take place in Leverano, May 26 (In case of bad weather the Parade will be postponed till next Sunday, June 2).

For one day, the town known for wine, olive oil and flowers, will be transformed in an equestrian carousel with horses, ponies, waggons and cabriolets. The Parade will start at 17:30 in Otranto street (via Otranto) till the awards granting at 21:00 in the park (villa comunale).
